Amorim demands Manchester United sign shock Enzo Maresca flop.

New Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim wants Manchester United to sign this player who flopped under Enzo Maresca.

Per Turkish media, Ruben Amorim has included Yunus Akgun  on his shortlist of Manchester United targets.

The Galatasaray Winger has been impressive this season in the Europa League,  particularly against Tottenham earlier this month. He currently has four goals in four games in the competition.

Akgun has scored six times, and assisted twice in 16 games across all competitions filling the voideft by Kerem Akturkgolu when he joined Benfica in the summer.

Akgun spent his previous season on loan at Leicester City where he struggled to find his feet under Enzo Maresca.  During that spell, he played only 885 minutes under the now Chelsea boss.

Maresca, who was manager of Akgun at Leicester last season, claimed he didn’t hand the winger more game time as he wasn’t convinced he was at the physical level to compete efficiently in English football.

Speaking in the days before handing Yunus 90 minutes against Huddersfield, Maresca said: “Yunus is struggling a little bit with the rhythm, probably because he said in Turkey the rhythm is a little bit low. Here it’s more quick, the pace of the game.

“He is struggling. He’s had a muscle problem, now it’s better. I like Yunus, I would like to give him more minutes, but he needs to adjust and understand how English football is, that it’s more physical.”

Despite  the fact that Akgun didn't really thrive in English football,  Manchester United boss Riben Amorim still wants him.

Turkish outlet Sabah claims that Akgun caught Amorim's attention even while the latter was at Sporting CP. Manchester United have, per reports agreed to monitor Akgun's performances until January after Akgun expressed a positive opinion of the player.

Per Football transfersFabrizio Romano previously reported that the key phrase Amorim used when discussing transfer business was 'intensity' and this is certainly one of the traits of Akgun, as exhibited in the Spurs clash when Galatasaray's intense pressing suffocated their English opponents.

Whether. the 24-year-old has the necessary quality to perform in the Premier League is a different question. He seems a rather surprising target for the Red Devils, to say the least.
