"Pride is killing his game. Drop him now." Eden Hazard tears down Chelsea star following poor performance in 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
It is no news that Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been facing several backlash over his recent performance.
Madueke is yet to finish a Premier League match since 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest before the October International break. That was also the last fixture in which he scored the equalizer after Chris Wood had given the visitors an early lead.
Despite that barren run, during which Madueke has also not registered an assist, the player remains in interim England head coach Lee Carsley's squad for their Nations League matches over the next fortnight. He has featured as a substitute in the national team's last three matches.
Noni Noni Madueke did not look particularly pleased after being replaced by Mykhaylo Mudryk midway through the second half during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Madueke, 22, walked straight down the tunnel after the substitution, which Enzo Maresca made as part of the double change that also saw Enzo Fernandez come on for Romeo Lavia. The latter looked to be struggling with an injury before being withdrawn, but there seemed to be no such problem for the England international before he departed.
The decision paid off minutes later when Fernandez fed the ball to Pedro Neto before the winger fired past Gunners goalkeeper David Raya. Madueke, meanwhile, did not manage to get any of his four shots on target.
Chelsea Legend Eden Hazard has called out Madueke for corrections following his performance against Arsenal.
Per Chelsea247, Hazard said:
"When he has the ball, Noni needs to be serious. He is Chelsea’s weakest link because he was unable to create issues for the Arsenal defense.
"It was a fight of strategy. In open play, both teams found it difficult to accumulate and generate opportunities. Chelsea is still in the construction phase. With the insight he has acquired thus far, Enzo Maresca has done an outstanding job. As a young team, they must develop as a unit. The project is progressing. They will be content.
“He ought to swallow his pride, improve as a team player, and help Chelsea win games. He must be dropped and given further education." He also said as quoted by Chelsea247 .
Meanwhile Madueke has taken to his social media accounts to post some cryptic messages which you’d assume is in response to being slammed this week.
The winger has then posted these two images on his Instagram stories yesterday, which we can only assume is in response to all of the above.
Cryptic posts that only Madueke will know the meaning of, but it seems that he’s having a bit of a time of it right now and not happy with the criticism as well as not being happy with being subbed off.
Enzo Maresca protected the player in his response when asked about Madueke going straight down the tunnel, but inside you can rest assured that he was probably annoyed by this as well.
But perhaps that was a genuine reason? We do not know the context. Either way, Madueke and Chelsea/fans need to find a way to move on now as it’s a long old season left ahead.
