"It will cost you your job!" Mikel Obi slams Enzo Maresca over three tactical mistakes he made in Bournemouth clash.
The Blues returned to Premier League action on Tuesday night looking to secure all three points after going winless in all of their matches since playing Fulham.
An early goal from Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead against Fulham in the first half of the game before a penalty, and a goal from Kluivert and Semenyo respectively, saw Bournemouth secure a comeback in the second half. However, in the late hours of the game, Reece James struck in an equaliser for the Blues with a superb free kick.
A lot of chances were created, with the Blues failing to make the best out of them. Nicolas Jackson in particular had missed so many chances in the game and Enzo Maresca's decision to not sub him off was one that left many Chelsea fans, including Blues Legend John Obi Mikel gutted.
Speaking candidly on his podcast, Mikel said as quoted by Chelsea247 : “You’re proving stubborn and this will cost your job at Chelsea soon, Last week I said Nicolas Jackson is not scoring enough. He puts himself in the right positions and then isn’t finishing. He doesn’t score enough.”
Mikel, who is regarded as a Chelsea legend after his decorated career at Stamford Bridge, expressed concerns over whether Jackson has the clinical edge required to help Chelsea achieve their ambitions.
“He’s not a striker who’s going to get us top 4 or win us titles, he’s not that striker,” Mikel remarked, laying bare his reservations about the Senegalese forward.
“He had the chance to put the ball in bed in first half but he’s not clinical to score goals”
“I won’t rest until we have a striker like Drogba in this Chelsea team."
While acknowledging Jackson’s strengths, including his link-up play and ball control, Mikel stressed that the lack of goals could ultimately prove costly for Chelsea this season.
“I don’t think he can get us over the line,” he said. “He’s good on the ball and link-up, but he’s not scoring enough.”
He added that if Chelsea wants to finish in the top four, they must recruit a quality striker this January:
“Find a good striker who can kill games for us. It will be bad if we don’t make top4 this season we need Champions league football.” He stated.
Truely that's the problem we are facing at Chelsea now because I didn't even why he was keeping marduake was doing nothing on a field but still keep him that's not good at all please we need a better striker seriously 🙏🙏💙💙
