'A Meeting Has Already Taken Place’ – Report Reveals Talks Between Chelsea And AFCON Star’s Agent.
Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Blues have already held talks with the Algerian international’s agent, Mohamed Dahmane, with a meeting said to have taken place.
Feyenoord are aware of Chelsea’s interest in the player, although no formal discussions have yet occurred between the two clubs regarding a potential transfer.
Moussa has just returned from international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a role in Algeria’s run to the quarter-finals before their elimination at the hands of Nigeria.
What should Chelsea fans know about Moussa?
Although he represents Algeria at international level, Moussa was born in Paris and developed through the youth ranks at Lens.
Now 23, he featured regularly for Lens’ B team before leaving on a free transfer to Belgian side Olympic Charleroi in the summer of 2022. He later turned out for Patro Eisden and spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, where his performances caught Feyenoord’s attention. That interest led to a move to Rotterdam at the beginning of last season.
In his debut campaign with Feyenoord, Moussa registered 11 goals and 6 assists. He has continued that form this season, adding a further 7 goals and 3 assists. Primarily operating on the right wing, he often cuts inside onto his stronger left foot.
Does Moussa fit Chelsea’s needs?
It is difficult to see how Moussa would slot into Chelsea’s current squad. The club already boasts left-footed wide options such as Pedro Neto and Estêvão, with Geovany Quenda also set to arrive from Sporting Lisbon at the end of the season.
While Chelsea’s interest in Antoine Semenyo suggests the recruitment team are still keen to reinforce the flanks, pursuing Moussa may be questionable given the depth already available on the right wing at Stamford Bridge.
