"For sale." Chelsea slap £40M asking price on talented star, confirm he can leave this summer.

 • One Chelsea star could be on his way out of the club this summer. 

Chelsea brought central defender Mamadou Sarr back from his loan at Strasbourg in January, leaving the club with a crowded selection in central defense once Levi Colwill returns from injury.

Reports this week suggest Benoit Badiashile’s time at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end. 

According to Mark Brus for CaughtOffside, the French defender is very likely to leave Chelsea in the 2026 summer transfer window, with the club reportedly seeking a fee of around €35m. 

Three unnamed clubs are said to be monitoring the situation, while interest from major teams in Italy and France is typical for the left-footed centre-back. Chelsea appear ready to accept a permanent sale rather than another loan, aiming to trim the squad.

The situation has become increasingly difficult for the former Monaco man. Now 24, Badiashile has spent much of the season on the sidelines, making just 15 appearances across all competitions in 2025/26—and only eight in the Premier League. He has accumulated roughly 471 minutes of action as of early February.

 Limited game time not only hinders his development but also reduces his chances of earning further caps for the France national team. While his talent is undeniable, breaking into Chelsea’s current starting lineup has proved challenging.

Selling Badiashile makes sense for both parties. Securing €35m for a backup player with four years left on his contract is a smart financial move for Chelsea. 

For Badiashile, a transfer offers the chance to play regularly and recapture the potential he displayed as a teenager in France. Remaining in London likely means more bench time, whereas a move to Italy or a return to France could revive his career. A fresh start this summer benefits everyone.

 For now, fans will have to wait and see if Chelsea can complete a sale in the upcoming transfer window.
