“He Caused It – Unacceptable!” Liam Rosenior Blames Chelsea Player for Late Equalizer.
• Liam Rosenior has called out one Chelsea star for mistake leading to Burnley's equalizer in the second half.
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has voiced his frustration following the Blues' dramatic 1—1 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
Burnley snatched a late equalizer in the 90+3rd minute when Zian Flemming headed home from a corner, leaving Chelsea to settle for a point despite taking an early lead.
Rosenior highlighted defensive lapses on set plays, particularly following Wesley Fofana's red card earlier in the game:
"We get a red card but still in the moment we have to deal with that set play better.
"That is unacceptable for their best header to be free in the box. I am learning very quickly about this team and I know what needs to be done for us to improve," Rosenior has said.
On the equalizer, while Liam Rosenior does not want to lay blames on his players, the Chelsea boss admits that the equalizer was as a mistake on the part of one Chelsea star.
Though the Chelsea boss refused to say a name, Liam claims a certain player marked the wrong person:
"A marking assignment was missed, it was not done. I'm not here to throw players under the bus. There was a player we assigned the duty [of marking Flemming] who marked the wrong player." Liam said as quoted by Football.london
"An assignment was missed. An assignment, a marking assignment wasn’t done,’ the Chelsea boss added.
‘[Zian] Flemming, we know, is their best header of the ball. And there was a player who I won’t [name], I’m not here to throw players under the bus, I will always protect my players.
‘But I will deal with it in the week. There was a player we assigned that duty who marked the wrong player.’
Rosenior refused to blame Wesley Fofana for the red card incident:
"That wasn't on Wesley, that was on our performance. From the first goal, we lacked decision, I wanted us to create wave after wave of attack. We were too safe in possession."
On Estevao, Liam Rosenior confirmed the youngster is being assessed.
Chelsea face Arsenal next and the Blues would need to put in a masterclass display against the Gunners.
